The Impact Of The Asbestos Body

Asbestos is a mineral that is widely used in protective construction, insulation and fire to its excellent durability and fire resistance properties. However, a few decades ago, alarming medical reports issued by the strong link between exposure to asbestos and lung diseases, including lung cancer, asbestosis and mesothelioma. Read on to find out how asbestos affects the body, finding the main symptoms of exposure to asbestos, and check some of the treatments for asbestos-related diseases.

Asbestosis

Asbestos is a very good reason for the isolation and structure is in the physical structure of asbestos fibers. Consists of millions of microscopic asbestos fibers molecules, which are short and very thin. While these features make the asbestos is very resistant, it also means that the asbestos fibers can become airborne and inhaled by people. Once in the lungs, asbestos can be adjusted within the lungs or the lining of the lungs.

If asbestos fibers in the lungs, often causing different modifications, one of which is the disease of asbestosis. This condition leads to the development of scar tissue in the lungs and the membranes surrounding the lungs. Accordingly, the breathing becomes difficult, and the body is deprived of oxygen. The main symptom of asbestosis is shortness of breath, coughing and chest pain nonspecific.

Lung Cancer

Exposure to asbestos has also been associated with the occurrence of lung cancer. This disease causes the growth of malignant tumors in the lungs. If lung cancer is diagnosed early, it can spread (metastasize) to the surrounding organs, eventually leading to death. But if the cancer is detected at an early stage, multiple treatments are given to slow or stop the growth of cancer cells. Often the most effective therapies combining chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgical removal of cancer cells.

Pleural mesothelioma

The more serious condition caused by exposure to asbestos is mesothelioma cancer. Unlike lung cancer, cancer mesothelioma affects the lining that surrounds the lungs. Occasionally, mesothelioma cancer can also develop in the lining of the abdomen (peritoneal mesothelioma) or the lining of the heart (pericardial mesothelioma cancer). Unfortunately, mesothelioma is often not produce symptoms until it is advanced. Therefore, the majority of mesothelioma victims succumb to this condition within a year after their diagnosis. However, new therapies are being developed to extend the life of mesothelioma patients and ultimately find a cure for this debilitating condition.

Consult a qualified doctor to find out more about the consequences of  exposure to asbestos, the disease such as asbestosis, mesothelioma cancer, mesothelioma cancer, pericardial effusion and the lives of victims of mesothelioma.

  1. Its horrendous what this toxic chemical does to your lungs! What beats me is why we still expose our children to it! Our children will still be dealing with the effects of asbestos in 50 years--they recently found it in school science kits!! http://bit.ly/AsbestosinSchoolBlog
